The Cinemascope screen format is the chosen screen ratio of many major Hollywood films, with many movies being filmed for a screen with a width 2.35 times larger than the height. On a standard HDTV 16:9 ratio screen, the projector must use 33% of its available pixels on ugly black bars above and below the image. The Cine-W is a Cinemascope ratio curved screen. This screen enables the viewer to experience movies as they were originally intended to be seen in the theater.
The Cinemascope 2.35 ratio screen is designed for the true cinema enthusiast, and is best used with an anamorphic lens or a projector or media with output formatted in the 2.35 ratio. The curvature of the screen is designed to reduce distortion when a film is viewed, reducing the difference in distance between the viewer and the screen toward the left and right edges of the image.
